Suspicious Sibling

The passing of a parent is never an easy time for a family, but it can especially difficult when there is a disagreement among siblings on how the parent’s estate should be handled. In one case, we were hired by a woman whose parent was nearing the end of their life. She had several siblings, but one had reportedly been making a strong case to the ailing parent about needing immediate financial support. The client had a hard time believing this to be the case, based on past experiences, and instead, thought it to be another attempt to fleece her parent for some cash before they passed.

Our investigation of this person revealed that despite their claims to the family of being financially destitute and homeless, they were living in a luxury apartment complex in a local up-scale community. We also determined that the individual was spending most of their time at home, and not out working, as they had been leading the rest of their family members to believe. The client used the information we provided to talk to her parent about her sibling’s true financial situation.
